ANNOUNCEMENTS Sept. 4/5, 2010

THIS IS THE DAY WHICH THE LORD HAS MADE Worship is our opportunity to be glad and rejoice in the Lord's house on the Lord's Day.  We come as children of God, knowing that we are welcomed here where all are meant to be one in the Spirit.  Let us lay down our burdens and rejoice in the Lord for the Lord is good, the Source of love.  Visitors, we are made especially joyful by your presence.  If you have no church of your own, we invite you to make this your home church.  If you would like to receive the church newsletter, indicate so on the visitor card or call the church office at 838-3360.  But above all we invite you to come to worship with us at any time.

BREAD OF LIFE - As the congregation proceeds with a time of transition, your prayers and cooperation are needed.  We give thanks that Pastor Curt Hanson has agreed to fill in as the coordinating pastor.  Please remember him, the church council, the BOL congregation, and Minot in your prayers.  There are many opportunities for outreach in our community at the present time.  Let us be ready to help when asked.  As we identify needs (or you are aware of something) please volunteer.  Everyone working together and guided as God calls each of us is even more essential at this time.

FALL MINISTRIES for BOL are now being planned.  Where are you being called to be a part?  Education? Music? Service? Outreach? A Committee? There is a place for each of us.  Please pray about it to find what your ministry call will be.

BLESS THE CITY CELEBRATION Sunday, Sept 12, sponsored by the Minot Ministerial Association.  Families, churches, are encouraged to use their gifts to find ways to bless their neighbors and their community.  Two ways would be to bring monetary gifts for the Salvation Army, or collect food items for the Horn of Plenty.  What can you do for your neighbor?  At 6:30 pm, come to the Celebration Service at the Minot City Auditorium with your gifts, share the blessing of being the family of God, sing and celebrate the goodness of God in our midst, gather to speak peace to our city.  Information booths at the event will help inform you of community needs.  If you cannot attend the city gathering, you can bring your gifts to the church.  Lists of food items needed are in the narthex.

VIBRANT FAITH CONFERENCE, Sept. 11 - Minot Zion Lutheran, 8:30 am - 4 pm:  Hear how to live a vibrant faith that is...Authentic, Available, Affirming; Learn how to equip families to partner home and congregation so that home is church too.; Practice using the 4 keys to pass on faith and values to loved ones; Lift up milestones as ways to celebrate life and nurture spiritual growth;  Integrate your faith talk and faith walk into all facets of life.  Cost for the event is $20/ person.  Further info is in the narthex.

BIBLE STUDY - Attend aa 2 part  Bible Study with Bishop Mark Narum at BOL, 9 am to 12 pm, Saturday, September 11th, and Saturday, September 18th.  The Bible study, based on the book of Nehemiah is aimed at healing, restoration, and rebuilding.  The heart of this Bible Study looks at Nehemiah's work of rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem.  The work Nehemiah did was foxcused on God:  God's promises, God's faithfulness, God's leading.

WORSHIP LEADERS Sept. 11/12 - Susan Anderson; Sat, Sept 18 - Pastor Don Andrews;  Sun, Sept 19 - Pastor Kari Pancoast.

IN THE BOL OFFICE - Tuesday, Sept 7 - 10 am - 6 pm, Pastor Curt Hanson will be available for anyone who would like to have conversation, the topic, your choice.  Are there questions about what has happened in the church, personal issues in your life, just want to talk.  Pastor Curt wants to help in any way he can.

FALL WORSHIP SCHEDULE Sept 4/5 - services Sat 5 pm and Sun 9:30 am    Sept 11/12 - fall worship schedule begins  Sat 5 pm and Sun 10:15 am.

RALLY DAY - Sunday, Sept 12 - Sunday School at 9:00 am for youth 3 years old by Aug. 1 through grade 5.

CONFIRMATION BEGINS for 6th, 7th, 8th graders, Wednesday, Sept 15, 6:30 pm with a pizza party, getting to know each other, sharing hand-outs, games, and enjoying time together!  Bring a friend!

ALSO HOSTFEST signup sheets are up.  There will be 3 shifts each day.  This project is a fund raiser for BOL so if you can help, please indicate which shift works for you.  Workers do receive a pass for the day they work.

BASICS OF SLEEP - is the topic of a presentation Sept. 13, 7 pm, by Jutta Schmidt of the Trinity Sleep Center.  Men and Women are invited. This is a time to come and ask any sleep related questions you may have.

MINOT COLLEGE STUDENTS - Lutheran Campus Ministry invites you to Tuesday Soup, Bread, & Conversation each week 11:30 - 1:30 at Augustana Lutheran Church.  And Thursday Night Alive (worship & Bible study) 8:00 - 9:00 at the Multi-Cultural Center.  Tuesday
