Outreach
Bread of Life offers and/or partners with the below outreach activities and organizations in our community to reach out to those in our midst and in so doing share the love of Christ.
Minot Men's Winter Refuge
Minot has experienced a rapid growth in population over the past few years. Notably attributed to the oil boom, people have been quickly swarming to Minot looking for work. With jobs being relatively easy to find, one might expect a move to Minot to be a smooth transition. This however, is not the case in regards to housing. Since the recent flood there has been a shortage of affordable housing in Minot. Working people or people simply arriving in town in search of employment are left with very few options. Since Minot did not have a homeless shelter, and the cost of hotel rooms ranging from $70-$120+ per night, it had become common to hear stories of new residents sleeping in cars for weeks before being able to afford the initial payments to secure adequate housing.
Minot Men's Winter Refuge started because of this need. The first winter a small house was used with limited space and facilities. Through great community support a larger facility is now available. At this time it will be available every night of the week during the winter months to assist displaced Men. There is now an executive director who is available at (701) 822-2585. Volunteers are needed each evening to provide staff for the shelter.
Annual Community Carnival
Every summer, Bread of Life hosts an evening of food, fun, games, and fellowship for the community.
Lutheran Campus Ministry – MSU
Lutheran Campus Ministry offers Minot State University students a Christ-centered community to be a part of while away from home. They host “Soup, Bread, and Conversation” every Tuesday from 11:30-1:30 pm on campus and “Wednesday Night Alive” at 8:30 pm on Wednesdays. Bread of Life is a part of the soup ministry and takes their turn by making soup in the rotation of sponsoring "soup makers". Volunteers are needed to furnish soup, breads, and cookies/bars for serving and also to be available during the set up, serving, and clean up time.
REM
This is a group of differently-abled individuals that use Bread of Life facilities for weekly gatherings and activities. Volunteers from REM also help to fold our weekly bulletins. It’s a great partnership that uplifts the gifts of those among us.
Metigoshe Ministries & Camp of the Cross
Bread of Life partners with our two local outdoor ministries and Lutheran camps, Metigoshe Ministries and Camp of the Cross, to provide educational and experiential opportunities for our youth. Through day camp, confirmation camp, and other activities, the lives of God’s people are enriched.

Women & Men
Women’s Ministry
“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in
Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in
faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and
action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.”
There is a lot going on for women of faith at Bread of Life! The BOL Women are involved in many ministries both within the congregation and the community. Ministries include the Christmas Angel Tree, Annual Rummage Sale in the spring, Mothers and Others brunch, and providing ‘camperships’ for BOL students attending summer bible camp. We are excited that we have had the opportunity to host two "Fair Trade, Fair Chance: Local & Global Craft Sale". It has been fun to shop, eat, and enjoy the handiwork of women artists both here in Minot and around the world!
